Oh Jesus Christ, our true King and teacher
Help us be like you in that lamp
So that all good and true Christians
Have Jesus‘s teachings in their hearts
So that we might have oil in our lamps
And let this oil in our lamps be
Pure, unadulterated, and filled with truth
Ask Christ the most compassionate God,
The most loving king
To keep filling your lamp with oil
If you are truly devoted to him
For oil in a lamp burns,
And when it burns up, it goes out
But let it not be so.
Let Christ, full of compassion
Keep putting oil in our lamps
From day to day
By letting our hearts and mind
Be as full of devotion
That is sincere,
Full of purity, and truth
Full of purity, and truth
Amen
I join you in asking that Jesus fill our lives with the oil of His pure truth so that our lamps can burn with compassion for everyone we meet. Nice metaphor for your prayer.
ReplyDeleteRuth Ann Miller said to tell you that your poem is wonderful and she always likes to hear them. She asked if you like the comments and I told her you read them and look forward to them. She also liked the idea of lamps filled with the oil of Jesus’s teachings.
