Oh God, who turns the hearts of kings
And the leaders of nations
Like rivers in your hand
In any direction you so choose.
Turn now the hearts of the Afghan leaders.
Make the leaders of the Afghan people into
loving, gentle, kind, and caring people.
Use whatever is needed
to break their hearts of stone
I ask our Mother, Mary
To intercede in
This desperate cause.

Yours is the first prayer I have heard for the Afghan leaders. It is welcome and timely and I join you in it.
